  A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is a remarkable phenomenon. A major work of modern spirituality, claiming to be the teachings of Jesus for this age, it consists of a 600 plus page text, 365 daily workbook exercises, and a manual for teachers. 

It was "channeled" by Helen (Cohn) Schucman, an atheist, Jewish professor of medical psychology at Columbia University, in the 1960's, and published in the 1970's.

ACIM has gone on, purely by word of mouth, to sell well over two million copies, generate thousands of spontaneously created study groups, and be translated in over a dozen languages.

We suggest getting to know the course, not by following any course "teacher," at least to start with, but through a bit of research to get a feel for what it is. Then to directly read and study the book if you feel called to it, perhaps aided by a group or a specific teacher in time. It is your personal relationship with the course that will matter.

As students of ACIM for over 30 years, we would suggest that the course is not the set of ideas it shares, but the experience of doing the workbook lessons, supported by reading the text. It cannot be easily summarized in words.
